26th Federal Prize for Art Students - Exhibition October 2023 - January 2024

A three-member jury awards the prizes and production grants to the art students after intensive deliberations:

  • Talya Feldman, Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg
  • Michael Fink, Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin
  • Rahel Goetsch, Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste - Städelschule Frankfurt am Main
  • Hanna Kučera, Dresden University of Fine Arts
  • ÓstovCollective, Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig
  • Su Yu Hsin, Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig

The students work in various areas of the fine arts - installation, sculpture, painting, drawing, performance and multimedia, in some cases also across media and curatorially. The winners of the 26th national competition address pressing socio-political issues such as the climate crisis, racism, feminism and Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, which they express in an artistically innovative way. The exhibition offers a unique insight into the quality and diversity of artistic education in Germany. It shows innovative works and is a great opportunity to explore the positions of up-and-coming talents.

The competition serves to promote young artists. It enables them to present their work in a prize-winning exhibition and to gain experience in the professional exhibition business of a renowned institution, as well as to establish contacts with galleries, art associations, collectors and curators.

The award ceremony took place on October 26, 2023 at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, where the exhibition was open until January 7, 2024.
