The work of the Studentenwerke
Germany's 57 Studentenwerke take care of around 2.8 million students at more than 300 higher education institutions in approximately 200 locations, and they offer support and advice on social welfare, economic, cultural and health issues.
They offer a wide range of services covering university catering, accommodation, student finance, childcare, counselling and advisory and placement services, and culture.
These services are aimed at a heterogeneous body of students and also take into account the special needs of particular student groups, for example students with disabilities and chronic illnesses, international students and students with children.
