There are some discounts for students: You may be exempted from some fees and receive assistance.

Licence fee exemption

Students who do not live with their parents can be exempted from the radio fee of €17.50 per month if they receive BAföG. The exemption applies for the period for which the BAföG is granted. For that a copy of the BAföG decision must be provided with the application. Students who share a flat must also state the names of the flatmates.

Freitische (free tables) in the Mensa of the Studentenwerk

For students in need, some Studentenwerke also provide help in the form of Mensa-Freitische. Food vouchers are issued for this. Ask your Studentenwerk about the conditions.
