Cooperation and qualification

With each other instead of against each other. Studierendenwerke continuously work to achieve good study conditions for international students. They work together with local partners.

International round table

At the majority of higher education locations, the institutions that are directly or indirectly involved with international students meet regularly for so-called round table discussions.
Studierendenwerke are involved in these working groups together with international offices, higher education communities, immigration authorities, other advice centres, student initiatives and student government units.

The round table committee “International students in Hanover” includes up to 25 people from all institutions that have contact with guest students in Hanover. On the one hand, the personal dialogue helps to ensure that many problems can be discussed quickly. On the other hand, the good networking and coordination also improves the overall situation of international students at the higher education institutions. The committee was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the Studentenwerk.

Intercultural qualification

More and more Studierendenwerke are offering intercultural training at their locations.
In workshops and seminars, students reflect on their own values and prepare themselves for dealing with other moral concepts.

At the same time, these events are often a good opportunity to get in touch with fellow students from all over the world, to learn more about them, and are often the beginning of international friendships.
